For those that could use The Little Golden Book version of The Living Pins' origin: Carrie Clark and Pam Peltz were both playing guitar and singing in Sixteen Deluxe and Ursa Major, respectively, in Austin TX in the mid-90s.  Cut to the Twenty-teens, and Pam and Carrie found themselves at a cocktail party wondering why The Living Pins didn’t play shows anymore. They couldn’t remember why, so they set up a practice.

When everything shut down, in March 2020, they’d already been talking with Jeff Copas (Sixteen Deluxe, Mule Ear Recordings producer) about producing some songs. The three set up an ad hoc recording session in a warehouse in East Austin and over two weekends in the Fall of 2020, the Freaky Little Monster Children EP was recorded. It was released in April 2021 with no expectations.  But the EP was liked by many people, especially the music press.

In the summer of 2022, two more singles, produced by Chris "Frenchie" Smith (Sixteen Deluxe, The Bubble Studio producer), were released.  "Oh Yeah" made it onto KUTX Austin's list of Favorite Songs of 2022 and got a spin from Duran Duran's Simon Le Bon on his SiriusXM show.

2023's Let It Be So EP, featuring Joey Shuffield of Fastball on drums and Bobby Daniel on bass, made a big splash too, landing on multiple Best of 2023 lists by radio DJs and getting extensive airplay on WTUL New Orleans.

“Freaky Little Monster Children, a sneaky little psychedelic-rock EP by the Austin band the Living Pins, has plenty of riffs and vibe...” — Michael Hall, executive editor, Texas Monthly
